It's time for another edition of MEET A LOCAL: the reoccurring Q&A where a Kimberely-er (Kimberley-ian? Kimberley-ite? Not sure the proper term) stops by the blog to say "hello" and drop off a few tips for living/visiting this lovely little mountain town called Kimberley.

This time around we're joined by Ty Turner, a familiar face for anyone that's been to Green Door or enjoyed some quality local theatre. Ty is the Turner in Turner & Adler Productions and they'll be putting on 'Cabaret' this November, so be sure to mark your calendars.

WHO ARE YOU & WHAT DO YOU DO?

Oooh this is a hard one... I am your smiley Green Door Bartender & your gal with the inside scoop on what's happening for live theatre in town. Turner & Adler are currently in production of our 4th Musical to end this season, 'Cabaret' Opening November 8th at Centre 64

WHY KIMBERLEY?

10 years ago, coming for just 'a road trip' from Canmore... Having a beer on the patio now known as the Pedal and Tap, watching the free KST Vaudville performers and reading the local paper as the sun was shining and the smiles were everywhere... I didn't leave.

IF SOMEONE IS ONLY IN TOWN FOR A FEW DAYS, WHAT WOULD BE ON YOUR LIST OF MUST-DO’S?

Go outside! You can 'get out of town' in just a few steps from everywhere! Our trails systems are amazing, safe, challenging and or relaxing. You can find an adventure or a serene place in a stones throw. Heck, just find a creek or lake and start skipping stones! Oh and eating!!! There are sooo many wonderful destinations for a memorable meal or drink that... Oh~thats the next question ;)

I’M HUNGRY… WHERE SHOULD I GO TO FIX THIS REOCCURRING PROBLEM?

When I see someone wandering around looking at our many places to dine, seasonally I most often point towards Nina's Garden. Its right here in the middle of town and you feel like you've found an oasis of charm. It always surprises me how many locals haven't actually gone up those charming "stairs behind the A&W". Nina is always there with a smile, a hug, and a poke at your appetite. Do save room for that dessert that she will tempt you with, "if you finish your plate" ;)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY AND YOUR TOP PLACE AROUND HERE FOR DOING THAT ACTIVITY?

Im a downtown girl so I do a lot of walking. I have a great dog/friend named Bruce who will entertain my strolling and guide me to places I have yet to find.

FINALLY… PLEASE SHARE ONE LAST KIMBERLEY TIP / RECOMMENDATION / THOUGHT / WHATEVER THAT YOU DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO GET IN DURING THE PREVIOUS QUESTIONS.

Be you a local or visitor, take a minute to talk to someone, ask questions. Perhaps in passing on a bench downtown or on a quick break from your ride on the Rails to Trails system, that person sitting across from you and your coffee...you will have the opportunity to listen and to share memories of Kimberley's past and passionate stories of dreams to come. From directions (insert 'the lights' joke here...) to personal opinions, the Voice of Kimberley is entertaining, inspiring, and above all, sincere.

OK, ACTUAL FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / LISTENING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / READING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

Oh crap~ I gotta start reading the questions ahead of time. See last comment? :$

For me Kimberley is a 'place' to constantly 'get to know'. An open door with helping and Happy Handz ;) to encourage my dreams and a community that is like no other I've seen, enthusiastically supporting each other. To have 2 of my own partnered companies, both holding a great deal of passion for what I love to do and still have some free time for those walks and talks, Kimberley is most definitely a Good Place to be

Alright. There you have it. Another MEET A LOCAL in the bag. Make sure to like Turner & Adler and Green Door on Facebook and hopefully I'll have another one of these Q&A's up in the not too distant future (so please get in touch if you'd be interested in doing one).
