We're slowly running out of days in the year 2016 that meet the criteria for being a "lake day", so when the opportunity presents itself, pack your beach towel and head out for warmish waters. The other day, when the realization came that we had a possible "lake day" in the making, our first thought was "WASAAAAP", but since we were dog sitting in Marysville, we figured we'd see what kind of waters sat south of Kimberley. A little bit of googling later and we were off to Jimsmith Lake

Only a 35 minute drive from Kimberley center (but only 25 when departing from Marysville) sits yet another lovely little warm water Kootenay lake. We were expecting it to be crowded, as Jimsmith is only a few minutes outside of the "metropolis" of Cranbrook, but there was probably more ducks there than people. Not that there wasn't other people around, it's just that there was quite a few ducks. Here's some pics…

If you've never managed to cross "Swim With Dolphins" off of your bucket list, maybe replace "dolphins" with "ducks" and then head over to Jimsmith Lake. It's not quite as exoctic as swimming with dolphins, but it does feel nice to get things crossed off of a list. And while you're in 'list crossing off' mode, why not cross off some things on your 'Stuff I Need to Get Next Time I'm In Cranbrook' list before you head back up 95a, eh?
