During my past years of running a music blog, I got into the habit of creating an end of year playlist based on the math that happens when you place an 'x' in the middle of a year. For example, '2016' becomes '20X16'. Which, when you do the multiplication, becomes 320 (i.e. 20 X 16 = 320).

The long story short of that convoluted intro is: at the end of every year I make a really big Spotify playlist containing a bunch of great music from the year that has just gone.

So, if the thought of putting a playlist of 320 ace tunes from the year 2016 on shuffle sounds like a good way to soundtrack the rest of your day/week, scroll downwards…

20X16 | 320 TUNES FROM 2016 (a SPOTIFY PLAYLIST)

You can either press play on the embedded player above or you can jump over to Spotify to listen (I think Spotify still lets you create a free account, but I could be wrong as I have a subscription included in my phone bill). If you do use Spotify, you might want to press the 'follow' button on this playlist as that way you can save it for offline listening (y'know, like for when you are skiing or something). I also make lots of other playlists on Spotify, so feel free to 'follow' me on there if you want.

Now, maybe over 20 hours of music is a bit too much for some to take on. Or maybe you don't have a Spotify account. Whatever the case may or may not be, I have also created a shorter end of year playlist for Mixcloud and 8tracks, which is based on the math that happens when you replace the '0' in a year with an 'x' (i.e. 2X16 = 32).

2X16 | 32 FAVOURITES FROM 2016 (MIXCLOUD)

You can either press play on the embedded player above or you can jump over to Mixcloud to listen (they're free to use and they also have a free app for your phone).

2X16 | 32 FAVOURITES FROM 2016 (8TRACKS)

You can either press play on the embedded player above or you can jump over to 8tracks to listen (they're free to use and they also have a free app for your phone).

I hope your 2016 was as healthy and fulfilling as the music was, and I hope 2017 is even better. Cheers & Happy New Year!
