KIMBERLEY BIKE PARK FUNDRAISER (FALL 2018) | INTRODUCTIONS
Q&A Postmark: November 2018
What's the story behind the upcoming Kimberley Bike Park Fundraiser?
The bike park is such an important part of Kimberley's recreational infrastructure and it is completely maintained by volunteers. I'm always looking for new ways to support ongoing maintenance, so when the opportunity to host a movie fundraiser passed through my inbox, I jumped!
IF YOU COULD ONLY USE 5 WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE upcoming Kimberley Bike Park Fundraiser (AND FOR THE SAKE OF THIS QUESTION, LET'S ASSUME YOU CAN ONLY USE 5 WORDS) WHAT WOULD THOSE WORDS BE?
Inspiring, Fun, Community, Social, Benefit
ACTUALLY, ON 2ND THOUGHT, IT SEEMS A BIT UNFAIR TO ONLY GET 5 WORDS. SO HOW ABOUT THIS TIME YOU USE AS MANY WORDS AS YOU WANT?
Well the idea is simple: get a bunch of amazing Kimberlyites out for a social evening, where we can chat about the future of the Kimberley bike park. Have a few beverages, share some laughs, and fill up the donation bins to help with future projects and maintenance of the park. A bonus is getting a chance to be a part of the world premier viewing of the mountain bike sports action flick Reverence. A full-length mountain bike film that delves deep into the psyche of select Mountain Bike Superstars on a quest to understand what motivates them to tirelessly to lay down their legacy.
November 22 at Center 64 in Kimberley. Doors open at 6pm, movie at 7. Draw prizes, drinks by Over Time Beer Works, and great company! Tickets available in advance at Black Dog Cycle & Ski and Snowdrift Cafe in the Platzl, and Creekside Physiotherapy Clinic in Marysville.
It's going to be great evening! And of course huge shout-outs to all those who've helped get this event going: Kimberley Independent School, Creekside Physiotherapy Clinic, Over Time Beer Works, Black Dog Cycle & Ski, Bootleg Bike Co., Purcell Outdoors, and Kootenay Mountain Works.
Actually, on 3rd thought… I believe a wise one once said "a picture is worth 1000 words" — so how about you share a few pictures that you think best capture the essence of this year's Kimberley Bike Park Fundraiser (3-5 pictures is, like, 3000-5000 words if you do the math).
FINALLY… WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING/S ABOUT RUNNING something like the KIMBERLEY BIKE PARK FUNDRAISER around the Highway 95/a area, eh?
I love the opportunity to help out my community. Being a passionate mountain biker with kids that love the bike park makes helping out easy. Of course creating a successful event like this fundraiser is only possible with support from an amazing community, but I do have to say that pairing a rad evening with a good cause, is just plain fun.
