ST. MARY LAKE | MOUNTOWN JOURNAL
ENTRY BY JEREMY/HI54LOFI | AUGUST 2016
Located 30 minutes drive from Kimberley center lies the picturesque St. Mary Lake. And it's a drive that's well worth making.
So pack yourself a picnic and head south on HWY 95a until you see the turn off for St Mary Lake Rd and then stay on that road until you see a turn on your left that goes over a tiny little bridge (it's pretty hard to miss the turn, even if you start feeling like "did we miss it, should we keep driving?"). If you have any floating things that will allow you to be on top of the water and not submerged, it'd be a good idea to bring those too, because this ain't what you call a 'warm water lake'. In fact, the temperature is more along the lines of "I dare you to jump in", which, depending on the weather when you visit, may be a dare worth taking.
Otherwise, just come to enjoy the beautiful views and quiet from the shore. Bring your rod if you fish, or just do like we did and watch other people fish. A river runs through it after all (that's why the water's so frigid).
Here's a few pics.
Again, come for the views and the chilling on the shore. Or the fishing. Or the floating. But if you're after some swimming and hanging out IN water, maybe give Wasa a go instead.
