Just like clockwork, it’s Monday again.

Which means it’s time for another weekly rundown of happenings happening around these mountowns.

So, how about starting with SOMETHING GOOD EVERY DAY this week, eh?!

MONDAY, August 19th

Green New Deal Town Hall - Cranbrook | In April 2019, MP Peter Julian put forward the first and only motion in Canadian Parliament calling for a Green New Deal. The motion is inspired by similar legislation initiated in the United States by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Ed Markey. Lawmakers in countries around the world are currently looking into introducing similar legislation.

Join MPs Peter Julian and Wayne Stetski as they discuss how we can combat climate change, while making our economy fairer and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Please come to our town hall meeting, and share your vision for a Green New Deal in Canada.

* Hosted by Wayne Stetski, MP

WEDNESDAY, August 21st

Composting for Beginners | Did you know that in the East Kootenays 30% of what we throw away is compostable organic material? Did you also know that this organic material can be turned into a very valuable resource, while reducing our impact on the local and global environment? Lucky for us, composting is an easy and FUN activity that anyone can start at home.

In this workshop Nadine Rake, the Zero Journey blogger will be covering the basics: how to set up a bin, ways to properly work and maintain the pile while not attracting wildlife, and how to use your compost soil. There will be an opportunity to pick up some troubleshooting tips, answer questions, dig into some composted soil, AND go home with a compost booster of local worms.

Registration is $15 per person or sign up in a group and receive $5 off each additional person!

* Hosted by Kimberley Community Garden and Wildsight

Black Spur Ultra #5 | The 5th annual Black Spur Ultra. This race offers a ridiculous amount of single track on Kimberley's extensive trail network, plus a little goat trail action. Kimberley is the perfect place for a mountain getaway on your own, or with the family. Hosted out of Kimberley Alpine Resort, it's also the easiest race out there for support crews; set up in the central plaza and you never have to move.

…of course, there's much more than one thing happening on each day this week, and there are many more days to plan for than just the next 7, so listen to what your gut is trying to tell you & make sure you bookmark 95EH.CA (either in your browser or your brain) for those future moments when you find yourself wondering about what’s going on and coming up in the area.

But for right now—since we’re already right here, reading this same sentence—I’ve added a version of The 95EH Events Calendar below for you to see everything happening on whatever day/month you’re curious about.

THE 95EH MINI CALENDAR

* IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET YOUR KIMBERLEY / CRANBROOK & AREA EVENT LISTED IN THE 95EH EVENTS CALENDAR, IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THESE INSTRUCTIONS THAT BASICALLY SAY THAT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS JUST CREATE A FACEBOOK EVENT FOR YOUR EVENT.

Looking for some good music for the week ahead?

Well, we biasedly recommend MOUN.TOWN/FM - which is a 'pretend, for real' radio station that features fresh playlists that you can listen to at work, at home, in the car, or even on top of a mountain (which might be all in one day when you live in a mountain town).

+ Here's SOME stuff FROM THE BLOG for even more options for getting to know the local vibe better — or maybe just for extending that coffee break a little longer, eh?

And that’s it for this week’s weekly run down.

If you’d like even more “ehs?!” throughout the week, make sure to follow 95EH on the socials…

…and be sure to keep an eye out on Friday for 'The Weekend EH?!’ — which is kinda like ‘The Weekly Eh?!’ but also a little different *and more importantly* The 95EH Events Calendar is always adding more local events because events never stop getting made—so there’s just a lot of stuff going on, eh?

\M/

‘THE WEEKLY EH?’ IS PUT TOGETHER EVERY MONDAY BY JEREMY / @HI54LOFI. IF YOU'D ALSO BE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING / COLLABORATING ON SOMETHING 95EH, JUST SEND A "HEY!" TO:
