THURSDAY, August 29th

Indie Art Night - Brina Schenk | Brina Schenk was born in Ontario, Canada, surrounded by music and makers but her love of visual arts didn’t surface until she was in her twenties. During her years on the west coast Brina was introduced to the wonderful world of illustrating for marketing, print and periodicals. It’s taken her a long time to find the courage to create art for herself, to promote her ideas and love of visual storytelling, but Brina is now on the path to learning how to follow her heart. Brina now lives in an inspiring and supportive small mountain community with her family of four, where she spends her precious free time painting, illustrating, writing, pixel manipulating and creating suspended art. In each piece she is inspired by the people she meets, the places she visits, the Fernie community, her wild and crazy kids and all the little, special moments of her day.

* Hosted by The Shed and Annex Collections Art

Friday, August 30th

Seed Saving Workshop | Seed saving is an age old method that allows you to grow what is already proven successful in your garden, and saves you money. In this Friday August 30 workshop James and Sharon from the Kootenay Society for Sustainable Living will be discussing the importance of seeds, why they recommend open pollinated and heirloom seeds, crop adaptation and acclimatization.

The workshop starts in the Kimberley Community Garden at 5:30pm for a hands on demonstration of harvesting grain and seed crops using threshing and winnowing techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to try these techniques under the guidance of James and Sharon!

There will be a short 15 minute transition time as the workshop moves to the Kimbelrey Public Library where drinks and food will be waiting! Here, participants will be introduced to the seed library and learn about; the difference between annuals and biennials, saving dry/wet weeds, when fermentation is needed and proper storage techniques. The workshop concludes at 7:45pm with a seed pack giveaway!

Registration is $15 per person or sign up in a group and receive $5 off each additional person! Bursaries are available by contacting Brooke at kimcranstudent@wildsight.ca.

* Hosted by Kimberley Community Garden, Wildsight, and The Kootenay Society for Sustainable Living

…of course, there's much more than one thing happening on each day this week, and there are many more days to plan for than just the next 7, so listen to what your gut is trying to tell you & make sure you bookmark 95EH.CA (either in your browser or your brain) for those future moments when you find yourself wondering about what’s going on and coming up in the area.

But for right now—since we’re already right here, reading this same sentence—I’ve added a version of The 95EH Events Calendar below for you to see everything happening on whatever day/month you’re curious about.

THE 95EH MINI CALENDAR

* IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET YOUR KIMBERLEY / CRANBROOK & AREA EVENT LISTED IN THE 95EH EVENTS CALENDAR, IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THESE INSTRUCTIONS THAT BASICALLY SAY THAT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS JUST CREATE A FACEBOOK EVENT FOR YOUR EVENT.

Looking for some good music for the week ahead?

Well, we biasedly recommend MOUN.TOWN/FM - which is a 'pretend, for real' radio station that features fresh playlists that you can listen to at work, at home, in the car, or even on top of a mountain (which might be all in one day when you live in a mountain town).

+ Here's SOME stuff FROM THE BLOG for even more options for getting to know the local vibe better — or maybe just for extending that coffee break a little longer, eh?

And that’s it for this week’s weekly run down.

If you’d like even more “ehs?!” throughout the week, make sure to follow 95EH on the socials…

…and be sure to keep an eye out on Friday for 'The Weekend EH?!’ — which is kinda like ‘The Weekly Eh?!’ but also a little different *and more importantly* The 95EH Events Calendar is always adding more local events because events never stop getting made—so there’s just a lot of stuff going on, eh?

\M/

‘THE WEEKLY EH?’ IS PUT TOGETHER EVERY MONDAY BY JEREMY / @HI54LOFI. IF YOU'D ALSO BE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING / COLLABORATING ON SOMETHING 95EH, JUST SEND A "HEY!" TO:
